Philadelphia police commissioner: Resignation was voluntary

Aug 22, 2019

PHILADELPHIA — Two female police officers whose sexual harassment lawsuit led Philadelphia's police commissioner to resign abruptly this week are due in court Wednesday. The women say their complaints of being physically and verbally harassed by supervisors and colleagues were ignored by department brass. One accuses outgoing Commissioner Richard Ross of failing to address the behavior because she had broken off a two-year affair with him in 2011. The women will ask a federal judge Wednesday afternoon to protect them from retaliation on the job. They say they've been assigned rotating shift work, given undesirable jobs, harassed over efforts to...

Aidala cited the intense media coverage and the circuslike atmosphere surrounding Weinstein's past court appearances in Manhattan. The 67-year-old Weinstein is charged with raping a woman in 2013 and performing a forcible sex act on a different woman...

Elliott was handcuffed but not arrested after police said he pushed a security guard to the ground at the event last May at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Cellphone video obtained by celebrity website TMZ showed an event staffer stumbling over a parking barrier after...
