DIVA Effect, Inc. Prepares for Back to School Community Event in Honor of BIPOC Mental Health Month

Jul 14, 2022

Atlanta, Georgia Jul 14, 2022 (Issuewire.com) - July is BIPOC Mental Health Month and the ladies of the DIVA Effect, Inc. are proud to announce that they are co-hosting a two-day community event filled with food, games, and resources. This two-day event will take place on Saturday, July 23, 2022, and Sunday, July 24, 2022, at Breakthrough Worship Center of Hope located at 6021 Maddox Rd, Morrow, GA 30260.

BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) Mental Health Month, originally designated as National Minority Mental Health Awareness Month, is observed during July to raise awareness of the unique mental health needs and challenges that underrepresented groups face in regard to mental illness in the United States.  For BIPOC Mental Health Month, the DIVA Effect, Inc. has partnered with Breakthrough Worship Center of Hope to not only bring needed resources to the community regarding mental health but also school supplies for students. July 23 is also significant to the DIVA Effect, Inc. because it is the birthday of their founder's brother who was diagnosed with a mental health condition and died by suicide at the age of 14. The 988 SUICIDE & CRISIS LIFELINE, formerly known as the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline, reports that "Suicide is the second leading cause of death for young people between 10 to 24."

On Saturday, July 23, the first day of the event, there will be games, food, school supplies, and mental health-related resources for those who attend. On Sunday, July 24, the second day of the event, the DIVA Effect, Inc. will co-host a panel discussion that will consist of mental health professionals as well as advocates who will share their lived experiences managing a mental health condition. Community resources will also be available on this day.

For more information or if you are an organization that would like to set up a resource table at this event, contact Latesha Higgs at (470) 231-5828 or [email protected].
